Thank you, Milton Rogovin, for seeing grace and humanity in the outsiders and the poor, and for honoring them with your work. Your legacy is that you lived your hope always in both photography and action. 101 years was not long enough to change the world, but enough to move some hearts.
I owe thanks to photographer Harley Straus, gone more than 20 years now, for having a bunch of El Paso kids study Milton’s work so we could begin to look at the border and life in new ways.
